I have chosen to use a thin but very warm melange of wool and alpaca for this bonnet, it provides the lightness, beautiful drape and unparalleled breathability.

▪︎ MATERIAL: 65% natural highland wool, 35% alpaca.
▪︎ CARE: Hand wash please, don’t use fabric softener, dry flat to ensure the item remains soft and mild.

*Benefits of natural wool:
– warm & comfortable, allows the skin to breathe naturally and discourages sweating, particularly for babies who haven’t learned to regulate heat very well and are prone to over-heating in synthetic fibres.
– Wool is an insulator and holds the body’s heat well. Alpaca is believed to be up to 7 times more warm than sheep’s wool!
– it is thin and perfect to wear in all seasons, not just winter.
– there will never be a need for an iron! The natural properties of merino wool ensure that it bounces back to it’s original state.

For these bonnets I am using a wonderful yarn, which is made from 50% superwash merino wool and 50% cotton. This unique composition was developed especially for babies and offers many benefits:

• it has a smooth and almost silky touch, with absolutely zero scratching
• it combines the best of both natural materials: the warmth and elasticity from wool together with durability of cotton.
• both materials are 100% natural and the skin breathes easily through the fabric, while being warm and protected at the same time
• the melange of merino and cotton makes a lot of sense for mid-season (spring, autumn) and can be worn even in summer. Merino wool ensures thermoregulation, which is very important for small babies and cotton can even either hold the warmth or cool down in the summer.
• Who has the time to handwash with babies??? Ahh. This bonnet can be washed in the washing machine in the delicate cycle.
• Array of pastel, muted colors is available, pinks, blues, neutrals etc

There are different options for pompom: yarn pompom (same or different color as beanie), faux fur pompom or real fur pompom (comes with an upcharge).

They look absolutely adorable on kids and adults. The “crocodile stitch” or dragonscale stitch is bringing a lot of texture and fun. I like to make them in variegated yarn, that hat really makes the colors stand out. However, there is an option to do these beanies in solid colors.

Cute seasonal Santa-inspired hat with earflaps and big pompom.  Great for keeping the head and ears warm in the cold season, role play or photo booth. The earflaps with the strings keep the hat in place, which is especially handy for kids and babies.
